The contents of the 175-page book include California Design furniture, public use, closures and enclosures, industrial design, for children, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, glass and enamel, and sculpture. Catalog of the exhibition lists designers and manufacturers.

Published by California Design in 1971. Printed in the United States of America by Anderson, Ritchie & Simon. Designed by Thomas Jamieson with Clinton Wade, Mary Stoddard, and Robert Shaw. Cover design by John Ramos, Sunshine Studio.
"1971 marks the 15th year that the County of Los Angeles has made a grant to the Pasadena Art Musum for the California Design program. The Supervisors commend the program from its continuing high quality, and for the attention it has drawn to the excellence of the design output of this area in both manufactured goods and crafts.
